Who has True Grit anymore anyway..

Greetings internet.

I've been watching a lot of Netflix lately... recently I watched "True Grit"... not the new one, but the original made in the late 60s. After watching it I kept thinking:

...It's a shoot 'em up movie the whole family can enjoy!...

I also realized when men hug it sounds like khaki and corduroy smacking against each other and it smells like leather.

I'm really glad I didn't grow up in the 1800s. Bringing your riffles into saloons while you gamble and drink whiskey seems like a terrible idea. I guess I wouldn't be allowed in a saloon anyway unless I was a prostitute. I would also hate not having air conditioning.

Anyway on a completed related, unrelated note here's another woodcut that you can find on my ETSY.

This woodcut is titled "Didgeridoo Man"

This original piece was created by cutting into a wood block and running it through a press. I then embellish details using acrylic paint. Didgeridoo man was inspired a street performer I watched while in San Diego. He was an Aboriginal and the way he played the didgeridoo was mesmerizing. The didgeridoo in itself was a work of art. It made me think of that short magical period of time I lived in Australia. And yes, I swear I lived there and my little brain wasn't just hallucinating.

Technology is Neat

Today at work my friend Joel introduced me to Vine. It's this contraption you can download for iphones and you make looping videos with it. He made one of me.

You can watch that here.

And for anyone who may not want to click on it, here's a summary.

Joel: "Heather, what are you eating for breakfast?"

Joel also directed and starred in this other Vine video we made. You can watch that one here. I highly suggest you watch it.

Joel's a pretty funny guy. He has a twitter too where he says funny things: twitter.com/joellugar

Today was a fun day.

Also, this little woodcut has been posted to my ETSY.
So go Pin it to your Pinterest or something.

Hydrant Chase

Heeeeeey everyone out there

so here's the most recent post on this Etsy contraption. And here's some shots of it for you to look at too.

HYDRANT CHASE : original woodcut print with acrylic detail
size: approx: 12 1/2 in. by 12 1/2 in.

This original piece was created by cutting into a wood block and running it through a press. I then embellish details using acrylic paint. Hydrant Chase was inspired by one of my favorite authors, David Sedaris. I just find his writing hysterical and in one of his novels he mentioned a dog chasing a sock puppet. This visual led me to create this woodcut only my weird little mind altered it to a dog chasing a fire hydrant. I’m hoping the hydrant gets away.

Art Upchuck

I sense a storm of posts a brewing...

I'm currently working on getting an ETSY together. Why not ya know?! I figure it's a good way to get my art out there and into your sexy bedrooms. I think I'm going to try out posting for a month, once a day perhaps. I figure that's about 30 things...that's 30 chances for you to like something.
